Welcome Back to Fall Programming!

St. John's is a very busy place in the fall with the beginning of numerous programs from Sunday and Wednesday school programming to recognition of Milestone ministries, and Confirmation programs and just getting into the routine of fall again. We have put together information for ALL the fall programs in this packet and have also highlighted dates for other important events throughout the winter and spring of 2012. Registrations for these programs are online or available in the church office. Please feel free to contact Missy with any questions or comments. You can reach Missy at the church office at 634-7110 or e-mail at mtjosaas@stjohnskasson.org.

Needed: Small Group Guides for Confirmation

St John's Confirmation program is going through some "remodeling" and "enhancements" are being made. We will be revealing our "remodeled program" at fall orientations.

We STILL need group guides for confirmation students. We are in need of 8 group guides for the incoming 7th grade class and 1 group guide for a group of incoming 8th grade class. Group Guides will attend worship on Wednesday evenings (September to May) from 6:30 to 7:15p.m. and then meet with their small group of 6-8 students for small group time, fellowship, service and enrichment. You will be required to attend Group Guide huddles on a monthly basis.

This is a relational ministry and it is so important for these middle school students to have group guides who will listen to them and talk about the issues at hand. We ask for a two year commitment as a group guide.

We will partner with you in this ministry and be with you each step of the way. There are many exciting things happening on Wednesdays and we can't wait for our partnership to begin. This is a great opportunity to know our young people and to have an influence on their faith. If you want more information please contact Missy at the church office at 634-7110 or e-mail at mtjosaas@stjohnskasson.org.

Education Volunteer Spotlight

Each month we are introducing and highlighting one of St. John's Education Volunteers.

This month we are recognizing: Jen Smith

Jen is the chair of the Education Commission and has been an active volunteer at St. John's for many years. She has introduced and organized the senior's quilt project. She has taught both Sunday school and Wednesday Oasis and helped with the coordination of various aspect of the Oasis program.. She has served in numerous roles during VBS. She has helped with the coordination of a VBS quilt, been in charge of the kitchen and all the snacks, and helped with decorating and even found us clear umbrellas one year to make jelly fish. (Missy really wanted jellyfish to make the decorations complete.) She has helped out in various other ways throughout the years including recruiting her husband, Matt, to be the substitute chef on Wednesday nights. They do an awesome job with that grill.

When Jen is not volunteering at church, she is mom to two wonderful young girls, Annabel and Olivia and of course an incredible wife to Matt. Jen is a RN at Methodist Hospital. In her spare time, she likes to run (and not because someone is chasing her). She also loves to quilt and go to Twins games. Now that you have met Jen, make sure you take the time to thank her for all that she gives to our community at St. John's.
