We are planning an exciting Day Camp opportunity for our students that have completed grades 1-6th. It will be held July 25-28, 2011 (Monday-Thursday). The purpose of the Day Camp is to help our children grow in faith. Day Camp is offered in partnership with Sugar Creek Outdoor Ministries. Camp staff together with volunteers from St. John's will lead the experience. This is one way to share the gospel of Christ. One key to Day Camp is the Sugar Creek staff and some of the special resources they bring, including: music, arts and crafts, games, Bible Study, and nature activities. The staff from camp will be here on Sunday morning, July 24 during worship to meet and greet.

We will begin on Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. and will end at 5:00 p.m. daily (you will be able to pick up your child between 4-5 p.m.).

Each child will need to bring a sack lunch and water bottle daily. Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided. On Wednesday afternoon, we will be taking our lunches and heading out to Oxbow Park. We will need adult/parent volunteers to help chaperone and drive. Thursday at 4:00 p.m. there will be a closing program.

We will also be having a peanut butter drive during the week. We will be collecting peanut butter for our friend Pastor Mioche in Haiti for his school in Bouyaha. For each jar of peanut butter we would also like to collect $5.00 which will help pay for shipping and customs. Peanut butter is a great source of vitamins and protein for the kids to fight malnutrition and to keep their minds sharp to study.

High School youth volunteers are needed daily. There is no planning necessary, you just need to show up, hang out and help out! Please let Missy know if you are able to help.

Registration forms can be picked up at the church office or downloaded from our web page at www.stjohnskasson.org in case you do not already have one. The cost is $40.00. The registrations are due back to Missy or to the church office by Wednesday, July 13. Please get them in as soon as possible, so we can do our planning.
