New members are brought into the church four times a year after attending three orientation sessions which are held between the morning services. Members may be current members of other Lutheran churches or may have never been baptized into any church. Indicating an interest is as simple as contacting the church office or noting such on the Welcome Pad during a Sunday morning service.
During the three orientation sessions on Sunday mornings, forms are filled out that provides the church with necessary information about you and your family. The orientation sessions will acquaint you with various members of the church including the leadership. We will get to know you better.
As a member of St. John's there are many areas for you to become active in the church beyond Sunday worship. Click on any of the commissions and learn more.
Opportunities to participate
You could bake a loaf of bread
The G and H Commission members give a loaf of bread to families of newly baptized members. They visit the family about one month after the baptism. You might like to bake bread or deliver bread. Contact one of the commission members.
You could make telephone calls
Each month, we need someone to make phone calls from the Service Group for greeter for each of the Sunday services.
You could be a greeter on Sunday mornings or on Wednesdays.
The greeter welcomes worshipers coming in the front door, being alert for those who might need assistance. The greeter should have some familiarity with the physical layout of the facility and the Sunday morning staff. Being a greeter requires minimal time and effort.
