WELCA (Women of The ELCA)

All women who are members of St. John's are members of the larger organization known as Women of the ELCA or WELCA. WELCA at St. John's has been a very active group over the years from the organization of the annual Lutefisk Supper in October to serving weddings and banquets for local business owners in the past.

At the present time, WELCA sponsors annually the following events: Christmas Tea in December; Doing Day in March; Birthday Party in April; Mother-daughter Brunch in May; Pie and Brat Social in August; Thankoffering Service in November. Under the umbrella of WELCA, St. John's has 6 Bible Study Groups which are open to all women. The groups meet on the first Tuesday or Thursday of each month (excluding July and August) using the Lutheran Women of Today as the basis for their Bible Study. These women meet at the church or at the homes of its members.

Listed below are the six Bible study groups, their meeting time/location, and a contact person for each group. Women are encouraged to join one of these groups. There are many studies provided by the churchwide organization that can be used.
